FSU/FAMU Students from
the College of Engineering,
Construction Mangement Class attend Field Tour of
Capital Circle Southeast (Connie Drive to Tram Road)

Tallahassee
– Blueprint 2000 held a field tour for the
Capital Circle Southeast Construction Project
Tuesday, January 30 for approximately 30 students
from the Construction Management Class, including
Associate Professor John Sobanjo of the FAMU-FSU
College of Engineering School. The tour was led
by J.W. Hunter, P.E., Resident Engineer for Parsons
Brinkerhoff and Scott
Stoutamire, Project Administrator for PBS&J.
The students met at the Capital Circle Southeast
construction trailer and were given hands on,
interactive session to help facilitate the application
of their classroom studies to the real world construction
process. The students were given an overview of
construction
management and how construction management principles
are being applied to the project, as well as specific
details concerning the project such as the different
segments and phasing on the project, and an overview
of design, permit and contracting issues.
The Capital
Circle Southeast Project consists of the reconstruction
of Capital Circle Southeast from Tram Road to
Connie Drive from two lanes to six lanes and will
include curb and gutter, significant stormwater
improvements, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, substantial
landscaped median, extensive landscaped borders,
and a multi-use trail.

Wednesday, March 26, 2008 for eleven students
from the Florida A&M University Architecture
and Landscape Architecture Programs, including
C.L. Bohannon, Assistant Professor of Landscape
Architecture. Leading the tour was J.W. Hunter,
P.E., Resident Engineer for Parsons Brinckerhoff
and Scott Stoutamire, Construction Project Administrator
for PBS&J. The students were given an overview
of Blueprint 2000’s philosophy regarding
roadway design and construction as well specific
details concerning asphalt paving for the project.
Every undergraduate left the tour with a better
knowledge of how the road paving process works
and a new appreciation of the hard work and dedication
for Transportation Construction Professionals.

a successful career in their programs. |
