PROJECT PURPOSE:
The purpose of the
roadway improvement project is to increase the capacity
and safety of the existing highway. New traffic signals
will be installed at the access to the Lakes at St.
Marcos development on Woodville Highway, south of
Capital Circle SE. Provisions for future traffic signals
will be provided at three intersections: Merchants
Row Boulevard, Southchase Boulevard and at the access
to the Sembler Commercial Development on the north
side of Capital Circle SE, between Woodville Highway
and Tram Road. The project includes significant landscaping
as well as pedestrian, bicycle and recreational amenities.
PROJECT LIMITS:
This project will widen approximately
2.3 miles of the existing two-lane Capital Circle
SE from west of Woodville Highway to Tram Road to
an ultimate six-lane facility. Approximately 2000’
of Woodville Highway will be expanded from a 2 lane
road to a 4 lane divided facility.

approximately $20 Million for construction and supervision.
DESIGN-BUILD
CONSTRUCTION:
Design-build means contracting
with a single entity for performing both design and
construction on an entire project.
The attractiveness of Design-Build lies mainly in
the promise of innovation stemming from the designer/builder
collaboration. By utilizing the Design-Build project
delivery method the public gets a quality product
in a shorter time than through the conventional Design-Bid-Build
process.
