Boyd to attend Groundbreaking Ceremony for the
Capital Circle Northwest $25.5 Million Construction
Project
The Florida
Department of Transportation (FDOT) in conjunction
with The City of Tallahassee – Leon County
Blueprint 2000 & Beyond Intergovernmental
Agency, and the Northwest Florida Water Management
District, will
kick-off the construction of Capital Circle Northwest
with a Groundbreaking Celebration on Monday, November
21, 2005 at 1:00 p.m.
Congressman
Allen F. Boyd, Jr., together with representatives
from the offices of U.S. Senators Bill Nelson
and Mel Martinez, will attend the Groundbreaking
Celebration on this construction project, which
includes
federal funding secured by Congressman Boyd, Senator
Nelson, and Senator Martinez. Others attending
include Chairman of the Leon County Board of County
Commissioners, Mayor of the City of Tallahassee,
representatives from the Florida Department of
Transportation, and the Northwest Florida Water
Management District.
This multi-lane
project consists of reconstructing the existing
three-lane undivided rural road to a six-lane
divided urban roadway. The 1.9-mile project extends
from US 90 / West Tennessee Street to Interstate10
and will include new sidewalks and bicycle lanes,
drainage and water quality improvements, traffic
signal upgrades and landscaping along the corridor.
The project
is being constructed and managed by the Florida
Department of Transportation, with funding provided
by: Blueprint 2000, the Federal Government, Florida
Department of Transportation, and a Florida Forever
Capital Improvement Grant from The Northwest Florida
Water Management District.
