Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
set for Capital Circle Northwest (State Road 263)

of Transportation (FDOT) in conjunction with The
City of Tallahassee – Leon County Blueprint
2000 Intergovernmental Agency, Northwest Florida
Water Management District, Florida Fish and Wildlife
Conservation Commission and the Florida Congressional
Delegates will gather for a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
to celebrate the completion of Capital Circle
Northwest (State Road 263) from US 90 / West Tennessee
Street to Interstate 10 on Wednesday, September
26, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the
Regional Pond 1 facility, located at 5317 West
Tennessee Street (just west of Capital Circle
on the south side of west Tennessee Street /US
90).
Scheduled
speakers will include Jim Davis Executive Director
for Blueprint 2000; FDOT District Three Secretary
Larry Kelley; Chairman of the Intergovernmental
Agency and Leon County Commissioner Ed DePuy;
City of Tallahassee Mayor John Marks; Lynn Bannister,
Director of Outreach for U.S. Senator Bill Nelson,
and Doug Barr, Executive Director of the Northwest
Florida Water Management District.
The 1.9-mile
project extends from US 90 / West Tennessee Street
to Interstate10 and includes the widening of the
existing three-lane undivided rural road to a
six-lane divided urban roadway. Additional improvements
include new sidewalks and bicycle lanes, the installation
of drainage and water quality improvement structures,
traffic signal upgrades and landscaping along
the corridor. M of Tallahassee, Inc. was the contractor
that performed the work. Construction began in
mid 2005 and cost $25.5 million to construct. |
